Pleural Effusion Treatment
Pleural effusion is a condition where excess fluid accumulates in the pleural space surrounding the lungs, leading to breathing difficulty and chest discomfort. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential to prevent complications.
At Dr. Raju's Chest Centre & Multispeciality Hospital, we provide advanced diagnostic evaluation and comprehensive management for pleural effusion, ensuring safe fluid removal and treatment of the underlying cause.
What is Pleural Effusion?
The pleura are thin membranes covering the lungs and lining the chest cavity. When excess fluid collects between these layers, it is called pleural effusion. The condition may develop due to infections, tuberculosis, heart failure, liver disease, kidney disorders, malignancy, or inflammatory conditions.
Identifying whether the fluid is transudative or exudative is critical in determining the exact cause and planning treatment.
Symptoms of Pleural Effusion
In some cases, small effusions may not cause noticeable symptoms and are detected during imaging studies.

Recurrent effusions may require pleurodesis or advanced interventional procedures to prevent fluid re-accumulation.
